TOM TANCREDO TO SPEAK AS PART OF ISLAMO-FASCISM AWARENESS WEEK AT THE GEORGE WASHINGTON UNIVERSITY
During the week of October 12th, the George Washington University chapter of the Young America’s Foundation will join several student organizations from college campuses across the country to participate in Islamo-Fascism Awareness Week, a weeklong condemnation of radical Islamic regimes.
There will be several events throughout the week including a movie screening and a keynote speaker. The week will begin with a screening of The Third Jihad, a film about radical Islamists driven by religious opposition to the West and their attempts to overcome the western world. The movie will be shown on Monday evening, October 12th. The week will conclude with a keynote address by Congressman Tom Tancredo. The speech will be held Thursday, October 15th at 7:00pm in the third floor Marvin Center Amphitheater located on 800 21st Street, NW Washington, DC 20052. If interested in obtaining press credentials for the speech, please contact Joe Naron, Director of Press with the above contact information.
The David Horowitz Freedom Center, national sponsor of the event, has defined an Islamo-Fascist regime as: a ruling organization that suppresses freedoms and civil liberties as well as serves as a sponsor for terrorist activities against America and her allies. The state of Islamic fascism remains critical—not only for citizens of Islamic states but for the West and the community of nations as a whole. Totalitarian Islamic regimes refuse to rest until civic life in liberal democracies is completely undermined. The goal of the week is to spread awareness and tolerance and educate students and professors about the difference between the vast majority of Muslims who practice moderate and peaceful Islam and those who have radicalized and perverted their religious texts and used them to justify political violence. Specifically this year, the week will focus on the endemic peril faced by Israel in the face of not only her enemies in the Middle East, but also their apologists throughout the world.
Tom Tancredo is a five term member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Colorado who sought the Republican nomination of President of the United States in 2008 and forced the issue of illegal immigration onto the national stage.
Congressman Tancredo has provoked outrage and accolades as a result of his refusal to accede to any form of political correctness. This has made him a favorite on talk radio with over 4000 interviews to his credit. He has also provided fiery commentary to FOX News, CNN and is a favorite on college campuses.
Congressman Tancredo has also written and spoken at length on the non-military threat posed to America by the radical Islam. His message that sharia law is inherently incompatible with the U.S. Constitution has hit a nerve both here and in the world-wide Islamist community and has sparked protests from Pakistan (where he has been burned in effigy) to Bangladesh. His legislation to restrict immigration of all those who preach the supremacy of sharia law was met with kudos from those who understand the nature and seriousness of the threat Islamists pose.
“We are excited to bring Tancredo, given a wide variety of issues facing the security of American and their allies. From current efforts in Washington to avoid our commitments to Israel, the one true Democracy in the region, to troop deployments in Afghanistan as well as efforts to close the holding areas of Guantanamo Bay; Tancredo has a prescient message for what we should be weary of in our republic.” – Travis Korson, President of GWYAF said.
